Olan M. Kirby, 81, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on December 21, 2012 at a local care facility.
Olan was born December 22, 1930 in Blair, Oklahoma to Ammon and Jewell Young Kirby. He married Ella Louise Mogg on August 18, 1984 in Plainview, Texas. While living in California, he worked as an engineer contractor and also was a deacon at the Baptist church. He raised Black Angus cattle for show and loved all types of animals. He loved to work on the family property in the Turtle Creek area he spent many hours out there, enjoying the outside and beauty of what he had built.
Olan is preceded in death by his parents sister, Merle Carroll stepson, Buddy C. Harley and soninlaw, Ed Newton.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife Louise Kirby daughters, Janice Faye Adams and husband Tom, and Debbie Ann Newton grandchildren, Jason Adams and wife Korrine, Kimberly Simmons and husband Brandon, Janell Bazan, Kyle Newton, and Jerald Newton stepdaughter, Paula Harley stepdaughterinlaw, Debra Harley four brothers, Clifford Kirby and wife Becky, Hulan Kirby, Vade Kirby and wife Marie, Troy Kirby and wife Billie four sisters, Laverne Simmons, Twila Lester, Joy Byers and husband Johnny, Una Maxwell and husband Terry many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held 10:00 Saturday, January 5, 2012 at the main chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Ligon officiating. A reception will follow in the river view chapel at Kerrville Funeral Home.
