Kerrville Oakley A. Korbelik, 72, went to be with the Lord on Friday evening, April 3, 2009.

He was born in Nelson, NE on March 12, 1937 to Emil E and Rosella Watson Korbelik.

A graduate from Teachers College High School in Lincoln, NE in 1955, he enlisted in the US Navy as an intercommunication Seaman. Several years later, he was selected for the warrant officer program being personally interviewed by Adm. Rickover. The majority of his military career in the submarine fleet was serving on various attack and ballistic missile subs. This career, as Mr. Korbelik would say, quotLasted 20 years, 7 months and 3 daysquot.

A graduate of KSU with a degree in Nuclear Engineering, he worked for Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Burlington, KS.

In his retirement, he worked part time as a driver for Hill Country Limousine.

A member of the Goldwing Road Riders, he traveled around the country on his Goldwing with his wife sitting behind him. This passion led them to be named National Couple of The Year for 2 years, 19911992.

Mr. Korbelik lived his life with a strong Christian faith. A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, family was very important to him. His love of gardening and caring for his yard gave him many hours of pleasure. He never met a stranger.

He is predeceased by his parents, a brother, Edward and a sister Gail.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 52 years, Lois R. Good Korbelik of Kerrville his beloved children, Bruce Korbelik and his wife, Tina of Harper and Sherolyn Korbelik Craig and her husband, Keith, of Kenton, OH his precious grandchildren, Tesca and Shelbi Korbelik of Harper and Reno Richenberger of Kenton, OH his 2 sisters and 1 brother, Faith Rose of Aurora, CO, Joyce Bell of Beloit, KS and Frank Korbelik of Rocky Comfort, MO and many nieces, nephews and friends.

ation will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 68PM.

A celebration of his life will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00AM.

In lieu of floral arrangements, monetary donations in his name may be made to the Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028.
