Kerrville Ninnah Leona Carpenter, 95, died Sunday, November 30, at a local hospital. She was born on April 8, 1914, in Valley Mills, Texas, the daughter of the late James Henry and Ninnah Geneva Thurmond.

Mrs. Carpenter was known by many in the area, especially her friends at Riverhills Health and Rehab as well as Plaza on the River. She also dearly loved her church family at First Christian Church in Kerrville. Ninnah was first and foremost a wife and mother. In addition, she worked outside the home as a sales associate for NeimanMarcus, and executive secretary at the Midwest City, Oklahoma VoTech High School. She also was a bookkeeper for Film n Photos in San Antonio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lawrence Carpenter of Humble, Texas, and her grandson, Larry Carpenter, of St. Louis, Missouri. She is survived by Jan McBride of Longview, Texas Rev. Jim Carpenter, of Kerrville and Carole Floeck, of San Antonio 6 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Clifton Cemetery, Clifton, Texas with the Rev. Jay Dozier, pastor of First Christian Church, Kerrville, TX officiating,

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to her home church, First Christian Church of Kerrville, 1900 Goat Creek Road, Kerrville, TX 78028 or to the charity of ones choice.
