Nell Ferrell Hutzler, 86, of Kerrville, TX passed from this life to spend eternity with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was the daughter of Charlie and Vera Nell Ferrell, born in Shreveport, LA on August 11, 1930.
Nell was a graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas, TX in 1947. She attended Hockaday Junior College, Dallas, TX, Southern Methodist University (SMU), Dallas, TX, the University of Texas (UT), Austin, TX, and graduated from Schreiner College, Kerrville, TX with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Being a smart business minded women, Nell was the former owner of Commercial Office Supply, a realtor, and associate and former co-owner with her husband, Gene Hutzler of Kerrville Funeral Home.
Nell married Gene Hutzler on October 8, 1977 in Kerrville, TX. A longtime faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Kerrville, TX, she was also a member of the Women of the Church. She maintained membership with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Magna Carda Dames.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charlie and Vera Nell Ferrell.
Family members left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband of 39 years, Gene Hutzler of Kerrville, TX; daughter, Mary Ellen Gleason of Boerne, TX; sons, Michael Douglas Gleason and wife, Dianne Greene of San Antonio, TX, Lawrence Raymond Gleason and wife, Nancy Phillips Gleason of Kerrville, TX, and Matthew Stanley Gleason and wife, Melissa Guinn Gleason of New Braunfels, TX; a sister, Glenn Ellen Dreggors of Corpus Christi, TX; her grandchildren, Kara Gleason Hui and husband, Lt. Cmdr. Eric Hui Coral Gables, FL, Amanda Gleason Stewart and husband, Blair Stewart of Longview, TX, Cole Douglas Gleason of Los Angeles, CA, and Casey Joseph Gleason of Los Angeles, CA; six great grandchildren; stepchildren, Cindy, Susan, and Robin Hutzler;
four step grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.
Nell will be held in state at Kerrville Funeral Home. Family Graveside Services will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 3250 Fredericksburg Highway, Kerrville, TX followed by a Memorial Service to be held at 2 PM, on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 800 Jefferson Street, Kerrville, TX with Rev. Dr. Rob Lohmeyer and Rev. Elaine Dreeban officiating. A reception will follow in Ryan Hall.
