Nancy Carol Ligon passed from this life into the presence of her Heavenly Father December 31, 2012. She was born in McCamey, Texas on February 21, 1940 to Wylie Burr and Minnie Blanche Cartwright. Nancy was one of ten children in her family.
Nancy moved with her family to San Angelo, Texas where she met and married Sam Brown Ligon on June, 12, 1958. The couple moved to Abilene, Texas where both were students at HardinSimmons University. Upon completion of studies there, they moved to the DallasFort Worth area for Sam to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary preparing for church related ministry.
Nancy and Sam were married for 54 years having lived in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado serving churches in educational and music ministry. They have lived in Kerrville since 1991 and have been actively involved in church ministries. Nancys active participation in Trinity Baptist Church included Bible Study in the Pilgrims of Faith Class, singing in the Prime Time Choir locally and on choir tours across the states. She also traveled on mission trips to Mexico, Japan and Alaska giving leadership to teaching staff in childrens educational ministries in church schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wylie Burr and Minnie Cartwright.
Those who remain to honor and cherish Nancys memory are her husband, Sam Ligon children, Sam Mark Ligon and wife Konia of Ingram Phillip Warren Ligon and wife Monica of Phoenix, AZ and Stephen Byron Ligon of Austin, TX grandchildren, Kody, Kyle and Kirt Roberts, Kendra, Amber and Konner Ligon 7 brothers, Wylie Cartwright and wife Pat, Dale Cartwright and wife Crystal, Don Cartwright and wife Ann, Wade Cartwright and wife Joy, Robert Cartwright and wife Kay, Paul Cartwright and wife Jane, Havis Cartwright and wife Margie two sisters, Roberta Georgoff, Kay Payne and husband John many nieces and nephews and a host of .
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given the Trinity Baptist Church building fund in honor of Nancy Ligon, Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson Road, Kerrville TX 78028.
A Celebration of Life will be in the Main Chapel at Kerrville Funeral Home 1221 Junction Hwy., Kerrville Texas at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 5, 2013 with the Rev. John Wheat and Rev. Chris Christopherson officiating. ation will be 58:00 PM, Friday, January 4, 2013 at Kerrville Funeral Home.
