Austin Milton Miller Standlee, age 92, of Austin, TX and formerly of Kerrville, TX passed from this life on December 9, 2006 in Austin, TX where he resided. Born in Liberty Hill, TX on September 21, 1914 to parents, Leonard R. and Nannie Lula Miller Standlee, he spent his childhood years in Liberty Hill, then moving with the family to Taft, TX where he graduated from High School.Mr. Standlee spent a tour of duty during WW II in the United States Navy, serving as a CPO Store Keeper. He attended Schreiner Institute and Westmoreland College in San Antonio, TX. He was an accountant who spent many years working with numbers. His career with Columbia Nitrogen, a Division of PPG, and now known as DSM Chemicals spanned many years, leading up to his retirement in 1979. He and the love of his life moved from Augusta, GA to Kerrville, TX in 1980 to enjoy the beauty of the Hill Country and spend their retirement years doing the many things they enjoyed together. Traveling in their RV, gardening, and in later years, learning the many fascinating aspects of the computer kept him busy. He also enjoyed woodworking, and had his own shop equipped so that he could do the job possible, as he did in most anything that he embarked upon. Mr. Standlee was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kerrville, TX.He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.He is survived by his lovely wife, Ona Mae Wilkerson Standlee of Austin, TX one brother, Raymond Standlee of Waco, TX two daughters, Patsy Jean Kessler and husband David of Lewisville, TX and Doris Standlee of Austin, TX one grandson, Kevin Kessler and wife Mandi of Keller, TX one greatgrand daughter, Jules Kessler of Keller, TX, along with a host of many loving friends, neighbors, and church family.ation was held from 6 8 PM, Monday, December 11, 2006 at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Warren Hornung officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with Military Honors.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Mr. Standlee to First United Methodist Church, Kerrville, TX.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
