Melvin Roach

Melvin Dale Roach, 83, of Kerrville passed from this life on Sunday April 2, 2017 at a local care facility in Kerrville. Mel was born April 21, 1933 to Charley Roach and Lillian Beatrice Stern in Waukhomis Oklahoma. Shortly after birth his parents and moved to Bentonville, Arkansas where he was mostly raised.
After graduating from high school Melvin enlisted in United States Air Force where he served with the Intelligence Department as a intelligence analyst. Mel retired from USAF in 1973, after being stationed in many areas including the Philippines, Japan, Germany, Vietnam and Taiwan. After retiring from the military, he served in the Medical Administrative Department, where he again retired in 1993.
Mel and his wife Hilda were members of The Family Sports Center for 27 years. They were both very well know there. During their entire marriage, they were extremely close also they were best friends. They like to laugh and were often together.
Mel was preceded in death by the love of his life wife; Hildegard Roach, parents; Charley and Lillian Roach, brothers; Clinton, Kenneth, Harold, Jack Roach and sisters; Mary Ann and Ethel.
Those who are left to honor and cherish his memory include his sons; David (Diane) Roach of Russellville, Arkansas, and Joseph (Rene) Roach of Ingram, Texas, daughters; Lynn Rogers of Oregon and Barbara Roach of Oklahoma, step children; Selina Walker of Ingram, Texas, Stephen Fiedler of Ingram, Texas, Cindy (Bobby) Hathaway of Snyder, Texas and Susan (Doug) Rabke of Fredericksburg, Texas brothers; Jay Roach of Charleston West Virginia and Bob Roach of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Celebration of life Services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, April 6, 2017 in the main chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway Kerrville, Texas. Interment will follow at Nichols Cemetery Kerrville, Texas.
