Kerrville Melville C. MC Gillespie Jr. passed from this life November 29, 2010. He was born on June 20, 1934 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
MC moved from Oklahoma to Houston when he was three years old. He wasnt born in Texas, but he got here as as he could. Raised in Houston West End, he attended John Regan High School. MC met and married Naomi Logan in 1955 and they soon added three children to their family Mark, Mindy, and Michael.
He was employed for 17 years by Bronk Electric as a journeyman electrician. In 1972 he and his family moved to Kerrville where he was selfemployed in construction until 1980 when he joined L M Enterprises. He was an active member of the Kerrville South Volunteer Fire Dept. in the 70s and 80s and served as chief for many years. After his retirement in 1998 he continued to reside in Kerrville until his passing.
MC was an avid baseball player and fan. He played baseball for Regan and continued playing ball for 25 years in both baseball and softball tournaments. He also coached Little League baseball in Houston for several years when his boys were young. MC was a lifetime Houston baseball fan and, he loved the Houston Oilers until they were no longer a Houston team.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman which prompted many trips to the woods, the lake, and the beach. He loved sharing the outdoors with his family so, being a wonderful quotPapaquot, the kids and grandkids were always along for the ride. In his spare time he gardened and worked in his woodshop.
If you needed a place to live, if you needed your garden dug, if you needed your house wired, if you needed a loan, he would do anything for anybody anytime except Bud Adams.
MC was preceded in death by both parents Melville C. Gillespie Sr. and Dottie Wheat Gillespie, and sisters Mary Lauman and Jo Ann Russell.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years Naomi Logan Gillespie, blood brother and friend Michael J. Walsh, son Mark C.
