Kerrville Melba Jean Walsleben, 67, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life to join her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at a local hospital. Born on July 11, 1940, in Valley Mills, Texas, she was the daughter of Theodore G. and Rita McNeill Petzold.Growing up in Valley Mills, she spent her earlier years attending the local schools before attending college at Mary Hardin Baylor. She met the love of her life, Harold Walsleben and they married in her hometown on October 9, 1959 where they began a loving journey together. Moving to Uvalde in May 1979, they ultimately landed in the beautiful Hill Country and settled in Kerrville in July 1982. They raised their family together, while being involved in the community that they both loved dearly. Melba was always the room mother that could be counted on, and an avid Girl Scout leader. She would have been a Boy Scout leader if they would have let her. She was very active in Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday School for 20 years. Being employed at Bank of America for eight years as an Administrative Assistant, she also worked closely with Harold in the accounting firm.She will forever be remembered for the love she had for her family, as they were her life. Those who visited her home knew that they would never leave hungry, as she was an excellent cook. Melba was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling and loved board games along with Trivia, Hearts, and Dominoes. Her pastime of gardening was a special treat for all around her. She knew how to get the work taken care by being the supervisor and saying, We need to get this done Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, James Petzold. She is survived by her loving husband Harold Walsleben of Kerrville, TX one sister, Shirley Kleibrink of Valley Mills, TX son, Brent Walsleben and Eric Thompson of Houston, TX daughters, Donna Walsleben of Dallas, TX and Blair Crane and husband Robert of Philadelphia, PA numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins her Beloved Grand Pets along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors. ation was held from 3 5 PM, Sunday, February 10, 2008 in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, February 11, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, Kerrville, TX with Rev. Dr. Warren Hornung officiating.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Mrs. Walsleben to First United Methodist Church Childrens Ark, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville, TX 78028, the National Kidney Foundation of South and Central Texas, 1919 Oakwell Farms Parkway, Ste 135, San Antonio, TX 782181725, or to the charity of ones choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Kerrville Funeral Home, 830 8955111.
