Mary Elizabeth Wilson, 82, passed away January 13, 2013 at Peterson Regional Medical Center.
Fitzy was born on June 13, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan and was adopted by George and Josephine Fitzgibbons. She was the ninth child of an Irish Catholic family and all of her siblings were old enough to be her parents. Her sister Eleanor, who was IHM sister at Marygrove College had a profound influence on her life. Mary was a student for 12 years at St. Rose Catholic School in Detroit, where she attended mass every day.
She graduated high school in 1948 and worked for Michigan Bell for 3 years. When Detroit had a citywide bus strike, she joined a car pool driven by her future husband, Glenn Wilson. They were married in 1952 and moved to St. Clair Shores, Michigan to start their family. She fulfilled her dream of having 3 children when she gave birth to Jan, Julie and Glenn, Jr.
In 1968, the family moved to Lancaster, Texas so Glenn could start his sales career with Bear Archery. Mary was a committed mother and didnt work outside the home until the last child graduated from High School. She was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1975 and devoted the rest of her life to the Lord. Glenn retired from his sales business in 1999 and they relocated to The Wilderness Park in Kerrville, Texas.
Marys hobbies included: bowling, birding, bridge and bible study. She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville and was a leader at a weekly Bible group at The Wilderness.
She is survived by her husband Glenn of Kerrville, Tx. Jan Marie Wilson, Evanston, Illinois Julie Lynn Skye, Tulsa, Ok., and Glenn Wilson Jr. of Kerrville. She has 2 grandchildren: Heather Brasel, Tulsa, Ok. and Kim Raines, Crested Butte, Co. and 2 greatgrandchildren Hugh and Bode Raines.
A celebration service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Casa Grande in The Wilderness at 12 PM, located on highway 16, 3 miles north of I10.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Mary Wilson Memorial Fund at Zion Lutheran Church located at 624 Barnett St. Kerrville, Texas 78028.
