Mary Townsend

Kerrville Mary J. Jo Townsend, 75, passed from this life on January 7, 2008 at her residence. She had been a resident of Kerrville for the past 6 months, and had lived many years in Jackson, MS.Born in Carthage, IL on October 10, 1932, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Helen Winfield Montgomery. She worked in Jackson, MS at Millsaps College in the records department and at Belhaven College in the library.Jo was a great believer in PEO, a service sorority that aids women to further their education, and helped in the fund raising. She was also very active in Welcome Neighbors Club and held all of their offices.She had a great love of gardening and took pride in her yard and flowers.Of her, her family said, She never met anyone who was not a friend. Jo is survived by her husband, Kyle W. Townsend of Kerrville her children and their spouses, Kyla L. Baker and her husband, Byron, of Houston, TX, Terri A. Mascagni and her husband, Todd, of Lena, MS and Scot A. Townsend and his wife, Suzanne, of Summerville, SC e grandchildren, Beau and Blake Baker of Houston, Kaylea Baker of HI, Garrett and Joshua Mascagni of Lena, MS and Elise, Hannah and Zachary Townsend of Summerville, SC 3 sisters, a brother and a host of other family and friends. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at the Riverview Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 2:00PM.Please omit flowers.
