Mary Alice Mlcak

Mary Alice Finch Mlcak left this Earth and entered glory on September 18th, 2023, at 10:25 a.m. Mary Alice Finch was born October 15, 1926, in Oletha, Texas to Willie Mae Finch and Joe Asbury Finch, being the second youngest of seven children.  After her father passed, the family fell on hard times and she had to leave school in the 10th grade to work and help the family.  She worked a number of jobs and eventually moved to Columbus, Texas where she met Albert Mlcak and they were married in November of 1958; and resided in Houston. Mary’s most recent places of residence included Santa Fe, Texas; Victoria, Texas; and most recently Kerrville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Mlcak; sisters, Hazel Peek and Allie Duncan; and brothers, WJ Finch, Buel Thomas Finch, Odell Finch and Joe Edward Finch. 

 Mary’s passing is mourned by her daughters, Lynette Mlcak Waldrep and husband Roy Waldrep, and Laura Ann Mlcak Pollard with husband Randy Pollard; 4 Grandchildren, Travis Waldrep, Robin Haws, Erick Pollard, and Dylan Pollard; and 4 Great-Grandchildren, Lukus Haws, Kylee Haws, Archer Pollard and Sidney Pollard.

Mary is remembered by her family and friends as a loving woman who never met a stranger, a gifted woman whose artistic talents ranged from seamstress to painting to cake decorating and flower arrangements. A frugal woman who always put her family first; but above all a Godly woman.  In her younger days she loved dancing with her husband Albert and playing cards with friends. Mary loved to travel and was always ready to “go!”.  Spending time with her family was always her top priority, and would move heaven and Earth to help her family.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the Kerrville Funeral Home. Services will follow immediately after at 4:00 p.m. Following the service, a Reception will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Billy Gene’s Restaurant. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Frydek Catholic Cemetery in Frydek, Texas.  Services presided by Pastor Roy Waldrep.

Honorary Pallbearers are her brothers, WJ, Buel, Odell, and Joe who welcome her home, Travis Waldrep, Erick Pollard, Dylan Pollard, Archer Pollard, Sidney Pollard, and Lukus Hawes.

Mary was, indeed, part of the “Greatest Generation” and will be missed, but today we celebrate her life.
