Long time Kerrville resident, Mary Theresa McCoun Menzies, age 80, died at her home Tuesday, July 22, 2003.She was born on November 9, 1922 in Shreveport, LA to Lloyd and Jim Leonard McCoun. She moved to Kerrville with her family when she was nine years old and attended Kerrville schools where she graduated Tivy High School in 1940. She later attended Schreiner Institute, now know as Schreiner University. As a young girl, Mary began her work in the Order of the Eastern Star by becoming a Rainbow Girl then later was initiated into the Kerrville Chapter of the Eastern Star on May 8, 1947. She was Worthy Matron in 19541955. In 1997 she received her 50 year pin and was a member of the Past Matrons Organization.She was also a life long Methodist and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville. Mary was church secretary for numerous years, sang in the choir and was active in other church functions. She was employed for many years at LCRA before her retirement.After her retirement, Mary became a very active runner competing in various 5K races as well as running for her pleasure.Mary is survived by her two sons, Tom B. Menzies of San Antonio and Jim L.
