Kerrville Mary Ruth Jameson, 87, of Kerrville, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at a local hospital.

Born in Matador, TX on July 20, 1924, she was the daughter of Rev. Robert Lee Jameson, Sr and Mintie Rose Barmore Jameson. She spent her childhood in Matador and went to St. Anthonys School of Nursing, graduating in 1945. Mary Ruth had been a resident of Kerrville for many years.

She received her BS in Nursing from the University of Texas, Medical Branch in Galveston, TX in 1957. In 1963, she was invited to join the Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society.

She joined the nursing staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kerrville in 1949 and was transferred to other VA hospitals in Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and California. She worked her way from staff nurse to Chief, Nursing Service during her 30 years employed with the VA. In 1978, she retired from her position at the Kerrville Facility.

During her retirement, she became active in humane work and helped found the Humane Society of Kerrville in 1985 and had spent the majority of her time working for them. She was a lover of all Gods creatures and always helped the quotunderdogquot, whether animal or mankind.

A person of great faith, she was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church.

She is predeceased by her parents 6 brothers and 3 sisters and her lifelong companion, Rosemary Farley.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her sister, Mrs. Mae Merriman of Brownwood, TX many nieces and nephews including Mrs. Janie Leeth and family of Wichita, KS, Nick Merriman and family and Jim Merriman and family all of Brownwood and Dan Merriman and family of Boise, Idaho.

ation will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 68PM.

A celebration of her life will be held at St. Pauls United Methodist Church of Kerrville on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 2PM. Committal services will follow at Garden of Memories in Kerrville.

The family suggests that donations in her name be made to the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, PO Box 369, Kendalia, TX 78027 or to the charity of ones choice.
