Mary Butcher Hanzel, 76, of Kerrville, Texas passed away peacefully on December 15, 2006 at a local care facility.Mrs. Hanzel was born January 24, 1930 in Erie, Pennsylvania to parents, Robert Floyd and Helen B. Jefferson. She married Paul Butcher on August 2, 1947 in Sinton, Texas. In 1975, Mary retired from Nalco Chemical in Freeport, Texas and she and Paul moved to Kerrville, where they raised Santa Gertrudis cattle and ran a very successful jam and jelly business for many years. Paul preceded Mary in death in March 1984. She married William Bill Hanzel on October 15, 1988 in Kerrville he preceded her in death in April 2005. Mary loved to travel, go on cruises, and was an active member of Turtle Creek Community Church. She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. More than anything, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness and love will be missed by all who knew her.She is survived by her son, Jim Butcher and wife Karen of Sugar Land, TX stepchildren, Karen Cox and husband Carl of Cape Coral, Florida, Wayne Hanzel and wife Pam of wood, TX, Kevin Hanzel and wife Debbie of Spring, TX, David Hanzel and wife Jennifer of San Marcos eight grandchildren four great grandchildren and special adopted daughter, Beckie Brown.Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating. Interment will follow in Turtle Creek Cemetery. ation will be 3:00 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Kerrville Funeral Home.Pallbearers will be Michael Reyes, Lonnie Tilley, Walter Tilley, and members of the Turtle Creek Church.Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Allen Reyes, Terry Gallagher, Connor Gallagher, Kellen Gallagher, Tom Bullard, and Larry Navarro.Memorials may be made to the Turtle Creek Community Church.
