Mary Evers

Kerrville, Texas Mary Frances Evers, 87, of Kerrville, Texas peacefully entered into rest September 3, 2003 at a local care center. She was born in Crowley, LA. to the late William Michael and Helen Iris Hockaday James.Ms. Evers attended schools in Crowley, LA. and later moved to Houston, TX. where she met her husband of 34 years, Eben Francis Ever. In 1984, Ms. Evers moved to Kerrville for retirement where she was very active in many different areas of the community. She loved the Hill Country she participated in Yoga classes, and was a square dancer. Ms. Evers was a staunch Republican, and volunteered at the Republican Party Headquarters in Houston, TX., where she become an employee before retirement.Ms. Evers was loved by all who knew her. She left a distinctive impression on each person that met her, and her positive outlook on life was an inspiration for all. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she loved them dearly. Above everything else that she did in life, she was very good at being a mother, grandmother. Ms. Evers was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, TX.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, William Harry Evers, and her sister, Margarite OBrian.Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Hoke of Kerrville, TX. a son, John Evers of San Antonio, TX. daughters, Mariellen Dyal of Kerrville, TX., Sandra Pierce of Tulsa, OK., and Jamie Drago of Kerrville, TX. 8 grandchildren, many greatgrandchildren, and a host of many loving friends and neighbors.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 11 AM at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Warren Hornung officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 8 PM on Friday, September 5, 2003.In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to the Alzheimers Foundation in Kerrville, Texas, or the charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Kerrville Funeral Home.
