Mary Dew

Mary Elizabeth Dew, 99, of Houston, formerly of Kerrville, passed from this life on October 15, 2014 at a care facility in Houston.

Mary was born April 25, 1915 to Frank Odbert and Edna Rose McKnight Buell in Almeda, Texas where she also grew up on her parents farm. Mary was a member of the local 4H Club where she won awards, which included a trip to Washington DC, for her abilities in canning and housekeeping. After graduating from college she taught school at Fayetteville High School and did county extension work in the valley. She met George Marion Dew and they married on May 20, 1956 in Uvalde, Texas. They lived in Uvalde for many years and Mary taught school there until her sight started deteriorating. In the 1970s George and Mary moved to Kerrville where they were members of First United Methodist Church. George preceded her in death on February 10, 1988. In 2005, Mary moved to Houston to be closer to her family. Marys hobbies included a mixture of home economic skills including gardening, quilt making, and sewing. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Lewis Buell and John Buell.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her sister, Rose Adele Andrews brother, Curtis Buell and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. ation will be prior to services beginning at 1:00 PM, Tuesday.
