Woodville, Texas Mary Frances Hanna Bates, 86, longtime resident of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on Thursday, July 20, 2006 in Woodville, TX at a care center. Born in Paris, TX, she spent most of her childhood years in North Texas, and then later the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from Rio Hondo High School and attended college at Kilgore Junior College. She married Russell Richmon Bates in 19. Her career included employment with Sears Roebuck and Co. in both Harlingen, TX and Kerrville, TX, as well as Charles Schreiner Bank. She was manager of Sears Catalog Sales office in Kerrville for a number of years.She was an active member of the Kerrville Church of Christ for many years, and also with the Livingston Church of Christ in later years. She enjoyed doing volunteer services for the Medina Childrens Home, making visits and telephone calls, sewing, baking, and traveling. She was preceded in death by Russell Bates, to whom she was married 43 years. She is survived by 3 children, Belva Bellcock of Searcy, AR, Garon Bates of Livingston, TX, and Loretta Derrick of League City, TX brother, James E. Hanna of Katy, TX 2 sisters, Elizabeth Sottosanti of Kerrville, TX and Margaret Clark of Midlothian, TX 12 grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors. She was dearly loved by both sides of the extended family.ation will be held Sunday, July 23, 2006, 79 PM at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24, 2006, 2 PM, in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with interment following at Garden of Memories, Kerrville, TX.In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to send memorials to Medina Childrens Home, 21300 Hwy. 16 N., Medina, TX 78055, or the charitable organization of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
