Marvin Schmoyer, Jr. left his earthly persona Saturday, July 12, 2003 following complications from surgery in an Austin Hospital. Marvin turned 54 during his hospital stay.Born in Allentown, PA on July 1, 1949, Marvin graduated from Penn State then decided to become a Physical Therapist. After receiving his Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Womens University in 1978, Marvin immediately began practice. He was a practicing Physical Therapist until his surgery.Before moving to Kerrville in 2001, Marvin lived in Corpus Christi, TX for many years where he owned a rehab clinic. He dedicated his professional life to helping patients with neurological injuries, from which he himself died. His healing touch will be sorely missed.Marvin is survived by his wife Jeana, his parents, Marvin and Fay Schmoyer of Allentown, PA, his brother Glenn Schmoyer of Walls Township, NJ, his friend Al Lira of Hutchinson, MN, many members of Jeanas family, extended family members in PA, and many friends and patients. He also leaves behind many beloved pets, including his two dogs, Little Zeke Schmoyer and Olivia and his five cats, Missy, Nico, Cleo, Cheddar and Little Blackie.Always kind and considerate, Marvin was a very gentle man. He expressed himself through his dry sense of humor, extreme intelligence, and warm touch. Marvin loved listening to music, reading westerns and science fiction, playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles, and watching movies, especially bad B comedies and horror films. Some of his favorites were Monty Python, Eddie Izard, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Rockula. His favorite food was chocolate.In informal, relaxed and unconventional service will be held for Marvin at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. A visitation for the family will be held from 11:00 to 1:00. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at his home, 1302 Ridge Dr. Your are invited to visit Marvin any time from Wednesday, July 16 through the time of the service.
