Martha Shankle

Comfort Martha S. Shankle, 82, of Comfort and formerly of Lubbock, passed from this life on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2009 at her home.

Born in Petersburg, TX on October 23, 1926, she was the daughter of Roy C and Jalie E. McDuff Sell.

She worked many years for the US Government for HUD as an administrative assistant. Mrs. Shankle was an avid bridge player and a member of the Baptist Church .

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, John Brooks Shankle and a brother, Roy C. Sell.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory is her sons, Jimmy Shankle of Comfort and Johnny Shankle of Norcross, GA 5 grandchildren, Brooks, Brent, Blair and Bryce Shankle all of Comfort and Nicholas Shankle of Norcross, GA.

There is no visitation.

A Celebration of her life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th St, Lubbock, TX on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 4PM. Inurnment will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 3:00PM.

In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that monetary donations be made to the Lubbock Childrens Home or to VistaCare Hospice of Kerrville. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
