September 4, 1962 — February 7, 2022

Mark Douglas Beck

Mark Douglas Beck, 59, died unexpectedly at his home on February 7, 2022, from ongoing complications of COVID-19.

He was born on September 4, 1962, in Marion, IN to Jeanette E. Beck (Bowen) and Thomas A. Beck. He married Kathleen F. Grisham on March 12, 1988, in Mesa, AZ. They had two children, Katherine Jean (Katie) and Mark Francis.

He was a resident of Kerrville, TX for 32 years, and attended Notre Dame Catholic Church. He was a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for several years, then earned his Registered Nurse (RN) degree in 2002. He found fulfillment working in the psychiatric nursing field.

Mark loved camping and family road trips, and had many great memories in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and San Angelo State Park at cabin #6.

He enjoyed home improvement projects, and was a self-taught do-it-yourselfer. He cared a lot about his neighborhood friends, especially Sonny and Lil, Patsy, Dale, and Steve.

He was a lifelong fan of Steven Seagal movies, and refused to get rid of his VHS collection.

Mark was always making his family laugh, with an unexpected zinger at the ready. He was the household's reigning Quiddler champion, much to his family's chagrin.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen ("Chester"); daughter Katie ("Chirpy") and husband Jeff ("Jeffy") Bell of Wimberley, TX; son Mark ("Bubs") and partner Ashley ("Cashley") Bolton of Lincoln, NE. And family from Indiana: Stepmother Rosetta Beck; brothers Tom, Dave, Joe and wife Laura; sisters Jennifer, Loretta Neufelder and husband Rick; half-sister Ann Ricks; and step-siblings Bill Johnson and wife Cindy, and Susan Grindle; and many loved nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his adored Pitbull, Buster ("Stinky"; "Mister"; "General").

If you are wondering, the names in quotations are nicknames that Mark gave his family, which he handed out freely and added to from time to time.

Mark was a loving husband, proud and guiding dad, and a generous practitioner of random acts of kindness.

In the spirit of Mark's generosity and in lieu of services, the family has organized a memorial fund in his honor for donations to the Notre Dame Catholic Church at https://www.gofundme.com/f/mark-d-beck-memorial-fund.
