HOUSTON Marjorie Virginia Peters, 95, of Houston, formerly of Kerrville, passed from this life on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at her residence in Houston. Marjorie was born April 28, 1919 in Houston to Albert and Ida Gray Peters.
Marjorie received her B.A. degree from Rice University. Following two years of teaching in Houston, she temporarily changed her profession to commercial art after completing three years at the School of Design in Houston. After more than twelve years in art design with the Houston Chronicle and Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages, she moved to the Hill Country and resumed her teaching career in Hunt and Bandera. Marjorie joined the Hunt United Methodist Church in 1962, where she spent many years devoted to the choir, music activity, and the United Methodist Women. She also used her talent in art to serve the church. Marjories other memberships included the Hill Country Youth Ranch Auxiliary, the Retired Teachers Association, and was a founder of the Kerrville Trailblazers. Marjorie also served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Marjorie is survived by a sister, Patricia Bartelsmeyer, a nephew, Mark Bartelsmeyer both of Houston, TX and a niece, Jane Rodriguez of Katy, TX.
Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Hunt TX United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Garden of Memories cemetery in Kerrville, TX.
