Maria Ortega

Maria Land Ortega, 58, of Harper, TX passed away on July 1, 2006 in Van Horn, Texas.Mrs. Ortega was born May 24, 1948 in Germany to Otto and Hedwig Land. She married Pablo Ortega on June 6, 1980 in Yelm, Washington. Maria was a Certified Nurses Assistant and attended Schreiner University to pursue becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She had a passion for nursing and caring for others. She worked at Windcrest Nursing Home in Fredericksburg, and fullheartedly at many others as well. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ingram and the Longhorn Travelers Camping Club. Her interests and hobbies included bowling, swimming, knitting, sewing, quilting, and traveling. She had a great sense of humor, an unselfish and giving and adventurous spirit, and was full of laughter. Maria was dedicated to her church, and had a great love for her family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest with determination through all.She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Manfred Land.She is survived by her husband, Pablo Ortega son, Vernon CooneyLand grandson, Dylan CooneyLand daughter by adoption, Launi Beth Ortega motherinlaw, Elizabeth Ortega numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family nine grandchildren five greatgrandchildren, a brotherinlaw and two sistersinlaw.Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
