Margaret Wilson Shidel , 95, of Kerrville passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday August 26, 2004.Margaret was born on October 14, 1908 to Elvin H. Wilson and Ethel M. Wilson in Northville, South Dakota. Margaret grew up in Aberdeen, South Dakota where she went to grade, high school and Northern State University. The family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she met her future husband, Frederick C. Shidel and they were married on December 7, 1933. After Frederick graduated from the University of Minnesota he was hired by the National Broadcasting Corp. at Chicago and they lived in Elmhurst Illinois. Fred being in the Army Reserve was called to active duty in 19, they were stationed at Fort Monmouth, N.J. until 1942 when they were sent to join General Eisenhowers staff in England and Margaret returned to Minneapolis to live with her parents for the duration.After the war, Fred returned to NBC and they lived in Lombard, he was later transferred to NBC Burbank and they lived in Sherman Oaks, CA. Upon retirement in 1968 they moved to Idyllwild, CA. They moved to Kerrville, TX in 1979.During the years Margaret, an expert typist, translated many books into Braille for the blind. Her interests in life were to play bridge, care for her pet dogs and cats. She enjoyed playing the organ and reading.Mrs. Shidel was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by a cousin, Rachel Townsend and her husbands two nephews, Keith Lea of Plover, WI and Gerald Lea of Amherst , WI and their families.Burial will be next to her husband in the family plot at Amherst, WI.The family wishes to express appreciation for the wonderful care given by Dr. Rosson, Vistacare Hospice and Alternative Health Care.
