Mabel May Tonnessen, 81, of Kerrville died November 4, 2004 at a hospital in San Antonio.Mabel was born in Munich, North Dakota on October 14, 1923 the daughter of Stanley Pincombe and Lillian Kargel. Mabel married Richard W. Tonnessen Dick in March of 1941. They moved to Texas from Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1953 with their daughter and son. Mabel had another daughter in 1960. Mabel worked at the VA Canteen as a Retail Supervisor with her employment evaluation stating She was without doubt the suggestive seller in the business, not one customer will leave the store without having another item suggested to them. Everyone knew her as Lefty. After retirement she seemed to work even more because she loved being around people and where the action was. She spent many years doing volunteer work at Deitert Claim, making crafts and working in the retail store. She also spent time doing things for her friends and visiting the nursing homes. She would take people to their Dr. appointments, grocery shopping, decorate for the holidays, and always bake goodies the Pie Factory. She also helped her daughter Clair for the past four years decorating Ameripark for the Christmas holidays hand making over 700 ornaments just because she thought that was her duty. Mabel had many hobbies, the main one keeping her daughters and granddaughters in line She also Demod at HEB, Albertsons, and Walmart for many years just so she could be around people she knew and meet new friends.Mabel is preceded in death by her son, Roger W. Tonnessen and five siblings.Mabel is survived by her husband Dick also her daughter Clara Clair Booth and husband Ken daughter, Bernadette Bernie Winn and husband Stewart all of Kerrville five granddaughters, Cassandra K. Haman and husband Jay of Bismarck, North, Dakota, Natalie R. Booth, Samantha J. Booth, Brandy M. Klingemann, and Amber M. Winn, all of Kerrville Mabel also has two greatgrandchildren, Kyle and Katie Haman of Bismarck, North Dakota, three sisters, Alice Sylverson of Minot, North Dakota, Janet Beatty of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Nancy Bryant of Maple Shade, New Jersey, and a brother, Robert Pincombe of Renton, Washington.
