She was born in Hartford, Arkansas to Loyd and Margaret Chisler Adair on November 20, 1909.
Lucy attended high school in Arkansas and went on to obtain a degree in education from the university in Ada, Oklahoma. She then taught school in Oklahoma and Arkansas. She later met the love of her life, Houston Vernon Claborn, and they were married in 1934 in Washington, D.C. From this wonderful marriage were two children, Verna Lou and Robert. Houston preceded her in death in 1989 after almost 55 years of marriage.
After some convincing, Houston agreed that the family should move. They arrived in Kerrville in 1947. Lucy became active in school projects with her children and also many other community groups. Lucy accepted Christ into her life at a very young age and believed that no matter what was happening, God had a plan for her. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church and was very active in the Ladies Circle and Women of the Church, she was a charter member 1953 of the Book Reviewers Club and the Blue Bell Hills Garden Club, she was also very active for many years with the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and she enjoyed participating in the concerts put on by the quotFun With Music Groupquot.
Early in her life, Lucy learned that family is the one thing you must always protect and love. She spent the rest of her life loving and praising each family member. It was always a joyous occasion when a grandchild or greatgrandchild was born. She saw it as a miracle that she got to see her grandchildren marry and have children and be a part of all of their lives.
