Lucile S. Jones, 91, of Kerrville, died January 16, 2006 at a local care center.Born in Uvalde, Texas she grew up in her parents newspaper offices in Uvalde, La Pryor, and Crystal City. She was a secretary at the A M Agricultural Experiment Station at Winter Haven, and was married to Sloan E. Jones, entomologist in 1934. She was secretary at Ysleta where her husband established the El Paso Valley Experiment Station in 1942. She was secretary and bookkeeper for the Department of Botany of the University of Maryland and for 10 years was secretary to the or of the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sloan, and is survived by her only daughter, Shelah Jones, who resides in San Antonio. She also leaves behind a nephew, James Stinebaugh and wife, Virginia, who reside in Castroville and their children and spouses Jimmy and Lori and daughter, Sarah Heather and Rich Davis and children, Jacob and Justin Stephanie and Jared Sears and a cousin, Jack Hebdon of San Antonio.Before her death, Lucile was in the loving care of Norma Vela and Rosa Salazar. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Kerrville Funeral Home with Rev Sam Hunnicutt officiating. Inurnment will follow at Garden of Memories.
