Lt. Hawley

KERRVILLE Lt. Col. Ret. Robert L. Hawley, 97, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on December 14, 2012 at his residence. Robert was born March 11, 1915 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Joseph Robert and Herma Jane Lewis Hawley.

He served his country in the US Army retiring in 1959 his military career included serving with the staff of General MacArthur. He served in many places including Japan, Germany, The Philippines, and San Francisco. He received many commendations among them being the bronze star. He was a member of the American Legion post 208 DAVTX8 and the VFW. He was an avid reader, followed and enjoyed discussing politics.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Hawley and sister. Mary Piper.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Patricia Haskee and husband Paul of Woodacre, CA and Karin Wagasy and husband James of Mason, TN granddaughter, Kim Cordrey of Kerrville and three other grandchildren also many great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 9 AM, Monday, December 17, 2012 at Center Point Cemetery in Center Point, Texas with the Vietnam Veterans of America assisting with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America or to any military organization of choice.
