Leon Cox, Jr.

Leon Cox, Jr., age 72, of Kerrville passed away Thursday, August 15, 2002 at his home. A memorial service will be held at St. Pauls United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 4 pm. Mr. Cox was born on July 15, 1930 to Leon Cox, Sr. and Katie Weaver Cox in Corsicana, Texas. He attended high school in Baytown, Texas and received his Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Houston in 1959. He married Barbara Kenneda on May 2, 1952 in Lockport, NY. Leon and Barbara were married 50 years and had three sons. Mr. Cox enjoyed being a father. He loved to take his sons camping, fishing and sailing. Being an Eagle Scout himself, Mr. Cox encouraged his sons in Scouting. He was a Scout Master and enjoyed working and teaching the boys in Scouting. Mr. Cox enjoyed many other hobbies such as golf, gardening and flying. He volunteered much of his time here in Kerrville being a Mentor with the Literacy Volunteers of America teaching math in the GED program. Mr. Cox was active in his church, the Host Lions and the Kerrville Masonic Lodge 697 where he was a Past Worshipful Master. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife Barbara Cox of Kerrville, three sons Frank D. Cox and wife Susan of College Station, TX, Barry A. Cox and wife Sherry of Katy, TX, and Paul D. Cox and wife Stephanie of Houston, TX Five grand children Heather Ann Glaze, Benjamin Cox, Melissa Cox, Kim Ray Cox and Cory Cox, a sister Bettie Lee Spain and husband Roger of Palestine, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents.
