Leighruie Robison

Kerrville Today is a very sad day for the Church family. Leighruie Robison, probably the nearest person who should be called the Mother of Turtle Creek Community Church, passed away this morning after a short rehabilitation effort from the effects of a bad stroke.Yesterday, she asked that she be brought home from the hospital and her family took her to the home she and her husband Van had shared for the past 40 some years. There, she was able to relax and after a single night at home, let herself be passed into the hands of the Lord where she will be welcomed and will be at peace. Leighruie worked hard, with Van, over the years, to build this church from a gathering of Turtle Creek residents to the structure and organization we know now. She was a driving force in the childrens and ladies groups and made the fellowship meetings of the Church a success. The few of us who are left of the early members will probably miss her the most but even the newest members knew Leighruie as the strong right hand for Brother Van who, through her love and work, kept that mighty man operating. We pray today, with all our hearts and souls, that she will, at last, find the everlasting peace she so richly deserves.Leighruie Pitts Robison passed away October 25, 2007 at 91 years. She was born April 5, 1916 in Brookhaven, Miss. In 1944 she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Harold Pitts in the European Theatre of WW II. Also preceding her was an 18 year old grandson, Bradley Benton Hierholzer. Left a young widow, she raised a 6 year old daughter, Danna. Fisher Elementary she retired to the Texas Hill Country after marrying Van Robison, a retired Assembly of God minister. Together they began the ministry at Turtle Creek Community Church in Kerrville, Texas.
