Laura Smith

Laura J. Smith, 92, of Center Point and later Kerrville, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family May 18, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Harold E. Smith, Sr, Laura was born on June 26, 1915 in Germantown, Pennsylvania to the late Polish immigrants, Vincent and Anelia Nelly Pinkos. Laura was very proud of her Polish heritage. She was a Texas resident for almost 30 years. Loving mother of 4, Laura is survived by her children: Gloria Barbour of Kerrville, Helen McGeough of Albuquerque, NM and Mr. Mrs. Harold E. Smith, Jr of VA. She was a doting grandmother to 12 grandkids: Jim Barbour Jr of Palos Verdes, CA, Cheryl Barbour of Kerrville, Michelle Cranford of Kerrville, Gary McGeough, Jr of Wisconsin, Jason McGeough of Parker, CO, Laura McGeough of Albuquerque, NM, Gina and Matthew Smith of VA, Allison, Megan, David and Holly Hatch of North Tonawanda, NY. She was also very proud of her 13 greatgrandkids. Laura loved working in her garden and baking and cooking for her family. Her large holiday gatherings will be truly missed by us all. Until her Alzheimers made it too difficult for her to participate, Laura was proud of her affiliation with the Center Point Garden Club, Center Point Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Center Point United Methodist Church. She was a very proud community supporter and volunteer A private family memorial service will be at a later date.
