Laura Gerloff

Laura Sophia (Neffendorf) Gerloff passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Fredericksburg, TX at the age of 102. Laura was born October 19, 1916 in Gillespie County to parents, Richard and Frieda (Friedrich) Neffendorf.

Laura was raised and attended school in in Mason County, TX. On October 26, 1935 she married the love of her life Alvin Gerloff in Fredericksburg, TX. With this marriage came three children, Charles, Lois and Delton. Alvin and Laura lived in Doss, TX working for numerous ranchers in the area. In 1948, the family moved to Kerrville and purchased Bendix Laundry. After Alvin's passing, Laura went to work for Kerrville State Hospital in the laundry department where she remained until her retirement at the age of 65.

In her free time Laura enjoyed traveling and visiting her children in Colorado in Dallas as well as crocheting. She would always make sure to give her crocheting to away to family and friends. Laura was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church. Laura was known my many as mama, grannie, grandma and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Frieda Neffendorf; husband, Alvin Gerloff; sisters, Margaret, Edma and Vera; brothers, Raymond, William, Richard and Felix and granddaughter Sheryl.

Those who are left to honor and cherish her memory are brothers, James and Lee Neffendorf; sisters, Bernice Dryden and Louise Smith; sons, Charles (Joyce) Gerloff and Delton (Julia) Gerloff; daughter, Lois (Ray) Smith; along with 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

A visitation will be take place one hour prior to service time with Funeral Services to begin at 11 AM on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Hwy. Kerrville, TX 78028. Interment will immediately follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
