Kerrville Lahoma Hayward Rice, 97, of Kerrville TX went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Lahoma was born in Pittsburgh OK, to J.L. Hayward and Mourning Godfrey, on the Mourning Godfrey Indian Issue Land. From this marriage there were five daughters Lahoma and her sisters, Edna Mae Hayward Gooding, Lourena Hayward Vance, Mildred Hayward Goode, Olline Hayward MacDonald and Lahoma Hayward Rice. All five daughters attended Bloomfield Academy in Ardmore, OK. Later in life, Lahoma met the love of her life and was married to Earl B. Rice
Lahoma was a talented quilt maker and passed her senior years making quilts for all of her family. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and her favorite saying was when I die and go to Heaven, I want to sew pockets on everything. She never had enough pockets for her Kleenex. Lahoma was dearly loved by her family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and all four sisters, the oldest one being 103 at the time of her passing.
Those who are left to cherish her memories are her son, James B. Rice daughter, Barbara E. Olson. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and her cherished friend and caregiver, Joyce Smith.
In her passing, we wish for our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend that the sun continues to shine upon her, all our love continues to surround her and the pure light within her continues to guider her along her way.
Graveside services will be 4 PM Saturday April 20, 2013, at the Bomar Point Cemetery, West Ridge Road, Wilson, OK. ation will be held from 3 3:30 PM at Alexander Funeral Home, 1302 7th Street, Wilson, OK 73463.
