Alba, TX ndashnbspKenneth William Holland, born March 14, 1942, of an Irish father Willie W. Holland and an Italian mother Mary M. Loverde, was pronounced dead August 9, 2008, at his home in Alba, TX.nbspBorn, raised and schooled in San Antonio, he then served in the U.S. Navy for four years and aboard the USS Helena as a machinist apprentice, being released from active duty in March 1963.nbspBringing his bride Carolyn McQueary and her son Pete to his hometown, their son Michael Anthony was born in May 1963.nbspnbspHowever the couple parted and soon his sense of adventure took over.nbspHe moved to Dallas and worked as a machinist for a few years, then to Canada for a little while, then finally achieved his goal in Alaska.nbspThere he lived on Douglas Lake near Kenai and as a machinist worked for G.E. Turbine and for Tesoro Oil.nbspnbsp Obtaining a pilots license, he flew hunters to different camp sites and fishermen to the Aleutian Islands and various areas.nbspHe caught fresh salmon, hunted moose, elk, deer and caribou, chased bear across the tundra and explored the pristine wilderness.nbspHere he felt Gods presence.nbspHis stories of adventure and photos could fill many a book and hours of conversation when he visited his family and friends in the Lower 48.nbspnbspIn late 1998 he returned to the Dallas area, started his own machine shop, and cared for his elderly mother until her death in 2001. nbspnbsp nbspIn August, 2006, after retiring, he settled intonbsphis new home in Alba in East Texas, and continued with his hunting and fishing trips with his long time friend Jerry Graham. nbspIn MayJune 2008 he was blessed with a joyful reunion for ten wonderful days in Gold Canyon, Arizona, with his son Mike A. Cromer and Simonenbspalong withnbspfour grandchildren:nbspLauren, Evan, Colin and Braeden.nbspnbspHis parents Bill and quotDollyquot Holland preceded him in death.nbspHis brother James W. Holland and wife Verna live in Mountain Home.nbspHis niece Genise R. Reneau and great nephew Joshua J.
