Kenneth Bigham

Kenneth Noble Bigham, 75, of Kerrville passed from this life on Monday, June 18, 2018 at his home.
He was born March 20, 1943 in Houston, TX to Evans James Bigham and Melda Miller Bigham. Kenneth married Carmen Stout Bigham August 15, 1959 in Houston, TX. With a high school education, he was the owner of many businesses in his lifetime. He made innovative, one-of-a kind, cutting edge contributions to the Waste Industry. In 1988, he formed the first waste storage company in Texas called Technical Environmental Systems which he sold in 1991. He also secured the first permits granted in Texas for hazardous water storage and disposal and opened Waste Control Specialists in West Texas, still in operation today.

As a son, the oldest, he helped take care of his parents and siblings even when he was a child himself. He started working at the age of 12 and throughout his life he generously gave of himself and his resources to his parents through many trials of tragedy and crises. One of his greatest joys was being able to send his parents to the Holy Land on many excursions to "walk where Jesus walked."

As a brother he always took care of his siblings. He was a protector and problem solver. He was a straight shooter with little time for fluff. For his surviving sister, Joy, he was the strongest, most compassionate and generous man she has ever known.
As a husband he was sure, strong and loving. At times brooding and intense, his thinking was always outside of the box. He unequivocally put family first. Carmen was his only love. They were married 59 years.

As a father he was a strong leader. He showed what it meant to be kind to strangers and friends alike. He was the ultimate provider. He was passionate, committed, and tenacious in his point of view. He was fiercely determined to help his children succeed and make a difference in the lives of others. He was eccentric at times with an amazingly witty sense of humor.

As a grandfather he was a man of integrity who made sure his only granddaughter felt safe and taken care of. For his grandsons he was honorable, brave and sacrificial. He was the man who taught them how to fish and shoot a gun. For his youngest grandson he poured into him his love for nature and encouraged his insatiable love for wildlife. For all of his grandchildren he shared their passionate love for the Astros!

Kenneth is proceeded in death by his parents, Evans and Melda Bigham; brothers, Paul Evans Bigham; Robert Marvin Bigham and David Lee Bigham.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Carmen Bigham; children, Ken Bigham Jr. and wife Charlotte; Jennifer Koenig and husband Steve; Rhonda Bigham- Throckmorton and husband Michael; sister, Joyce Orsak and husband Mark; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many more beloved relatives, including his beloved Aunt Kat.

In lieu of standard memorial remembrances contributions can be given to the ALS Association
The family would like to thank Peterson Hospice for their loving care and compassion shown to Mr. Bigham during his illness, also the gentlemen at Clifford E. Blackwell Fire Station for their compassion and strength.
