Juan Cortez

Kerrville Juan V. Cortez, 88, of Kerrville, passed from this life at a local Kerrville hospital on Monday, December 5, 2011.

Born in Hondo, TX on June 23, 1923, he was the son of Mauro Cortez and Guadalupe quotLupequot Velasquez Cortez. He had been a resident of Kerrville since the 1950s.

Mr. Cortez served in the US Army as a Private, First Class.

He worked for the Texas DPS in communications and building maintenance.

Mr. Cortez is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Altagracia Villegas, a son, Johnny Cortez, 3 brothers, Ben, Ross and Manuel and 2 sisters Julia and Cecilia.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his two sons, Joe Cortez and his wife, Anna, of San Antonio and Jimmy Cortez and his wife, Annie, of Kerrville three grandchildren, Jennifer Perez of Trenton, MI, Rebecca Cortez of Kerrville, TX and Brandi Jo Cortez of Hondo, TX 8 great grandchildren, Jacob Perez, Isaac Perez, Abigail Perez, Nicolette Perez, Christiana Perez and Ezekiel Perez all of Trenton, MI and Hailey Ruiz and Kylie Adame both of Kerrville, TX one brother, Fred Cortez of San Jose, CA and many nieces and nephews.

ation will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 68PM with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10 AM with committal services with full military honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30PM.

The family suggests that donations in his name be made to the Alzheimers Association.
