Joyce Harrel

Joyce Aielene Fielden Harrel passed away on February 11, 2022 at the age of 89 at Alpine Terrace in Kerrville, Texas. Joyce was born on February 21, 1932 in Williamsburg, Kentucky, the only child of Carl & Roberta White Fielden. Joyce was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. A stunning beauty, she was crowned Miss Buccaneer during the Buccaneer Days in Corpus Christi.

She met and married Clifton Hale Harrel, who was a veterinarian in the Robstown area for many years. They were married for 56 years and had four children. After her children were grown, Joyce attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi where she received a nursing degree. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She worked at hospitals in Corpus Christi, Calallen, and Kingsville, as well as long term care facilities in Robstown.

Joyce will be remembered as a mother who loved and cherished all of her children, and was very proud of their accomplishments. She loved to cook, watch her favorite TV shows, and she loved her two little Shih Tzu puppies. In her last three years as a resident at Alpine Terrace she loved to play bingo, socialize with her friends and get her hair done.

Joyce is survived by her son, Michael Harrel of Harper, Texas, daughter Debra Joy Eddy of New Braunfels, Tx, son Terrence Walter Harrel and wife Cathy of McAllen, Texas and daughter Patricia Diane Simnacher and husband Keith of New Braunfels, Texas and a sister Jan Karnes of Pipe Creek, Texas. She is survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifton and her grandson, Travis Wyatt Harrel.

The family wishes to thank Alpine Terrace Nursing & Rehab and Alamo Hospice for their loving care and support.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the charity of one's choice.

A graveside service will be held at 9AM on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
