Joyce Freeman

Kerrville Joyce Marion Tessmer Freeman passed from this life peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2004 in a San Antonio hospital after a brief illness. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Herman Tessmer and Ruth Newberg Tessmer on December 27, 1927.She was married to Joseph Freeman, her husband of 56 years on June 6, 1946, who preceded her in death last September. They lived in the Houston area for many years, before retiring to Kerrville in 1983. Joyce was an avid golfer, and a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and friend to many people.She was very active in her retirement, from Gulf Oil Company, since 1980, volunteering her time at Sid Peterson Hospital, as a Pink Lady. She was active in golf at Kerrvilles Schreiner golf course, a past president of the ladies golf association, and four time womens golf tournament champion. The Kerrville Ladies Golf Association has not only lost a great golfer, but a great lady. Joyce will be missed even more by her Thursday golfing buddies. She was a true friend to all of the lady golfers. She was also a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.Her loving family includes her two sons, Joe Freeman Jr. and Kevin Freeman her grandchildren, Nicole Rasch and husband Bill, Lance Speck and wife Cindy, Billy Freeman and fiance Christy Wendel, Shawn Freeman, Jonathan Freeman and fiance Emily Arner, Sherrie Sheild and husband Christian, and greatgrandchildren, Zoey and Suzannah Rasch, and Asa Sheild.She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts.A celebration of Christian Mass will be held at 10 AM, Monday, April 19, 2004 at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kerrville, Texas, with Father Mike Boulette, celebrant.At the familys request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, 320 Sidney Baker, Kerrville, Texas 78028.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
