Joseph E Alleo, 84, of Kerrville, Texas, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas.

Joe was born on March 17, 1929, in Library, PA. Both of his parents died when he was very young and from the age of six, he lived at the VFW Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School and subsequently in 1948, enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Germany. Upon his return from service in 1951, Joe enrolled at Michigan State University where he received his bachelors degree. Joe spent his entire career in the audit division of the Federal Highway Administration. He retired from the FHWA as Inspector General for the MidSouth states.

Joe married Mildred Russell in 1958 and became stepfather to her son, Gary Russell. Joe and Millie enjoyed 54 years of marriage and shared a love for their local church and travel. After retirement, they were fortunate to take many trips throughout the world.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Millie in 2012, and by his stepson, Gary Russell in 1995.

Joe is survived by his granddaughter, Tamara Russell, of Lansing, Michigan and lifelong friend, Gene Nickerson, who was like a brother to him. He is also survived by his brothers and sistersinlaw and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Kerrville First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville, TX 78028, on Thursday January, 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be sent to the VFW National Home for Children at, 3573 S. Waverly Rd, Eaton Rapids, MI 48837, or to the Kerrville First United Methodist Church.
