John Podhaisky

KERRVILLE - John Frederick Podhaisky, 73, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on May 5, 2016 at a local hospital.

John was born July 7, 1942 to Frank and Mary (Squire) Podhaisky in Omaha, NE. He married the love of his life, Gail Winkley, August 21, 1965, in Loveland, CO. John served his country as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He graduated from LSU and was employed as a production superintendent for Devon Energy for over 28 years. John was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineering and a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. Throughout the years, he was very active in his community including serving as a volunteer Firefighter for the Lake Bridgeport Fire Department and a volunteer at the Veterans Administration in Kerrville.

John is preceded in death by parents; 3 sisters and a brother.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Gail Podhaisky; children, Todd Douglass Podhaisky and wife, Jodi of Marietta, Ga; Tamara Lea Reed and husband, Charlie of Kellar, Texas; and Scott Thomas Podhaisky and wife Lisa of Magnolia, Texas; and grandchildren Hayley, Marissa, Breane, Brien, Kelly, Tyler, and Zachary and great granddaughter, Jocelyn.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Kerrville Funeral Home with Father Tom Murray officiating. Inurnment will follow at Garden of Memories.
