John Franklin Knapp, 78, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at his home in Kerrville, Texas. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. John grew up in Big Spring, Texas, where he developed the values of hard work, integrity, and service that guided him throughout his life.

John was a loving partner to his wife of 53 years, Melody Knapp. Together, they created a life filled with love, lots of laughter, and memories that will be treasured forever. He was the proud father of two daughters, Michelle (Timothy) Badura and Denise Knapp, who brought him endless joy and pride. John was also a devoted grandfather to his grandson, Robert Badura, with whom he shared a deep and special bond. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ethel Knapp, and his grandson, Alexander Badura. John graduated from West Texas A&M University before proudly enlisting in the U.S Air Force. Following his service, he embarked on a distinguished career with the Air Force Audit Agency, a journey that took him and his family from Colorado to Texas, Nebraska, England, and Germany, among others. After retiring from civilian service, John continued contributing to his community by working for the San Antonio Northeast Independent School District. He later fully retired to the Texas Hill Country, where he built their forever home with his own hands and spent the remainder of his life golfing, traveling, and enjoying the beauty of the land that surrounded him. Committed to service, John was a dedicated member of the Tierra Linda Volunteer Fire Department for many years, embodying his lifelong dedication to helping others. John’s life was marked by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. His warm heart, sharp wit, and steadfast support for those he loved will be deeply missed. 

A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
