Kerrville ndash John M. Dreiss, 85, passed away peacefully with many of the family members at his bedside on Thursday evening, August 21, 2008 at a local hospital.nbspBorn in Marion, OH on August 6, 1923, he was the son of Ernst Albert and Eva Pearl Klinefelter Dreiss.nbsp The family moved to San Antonio, then to Pleasure Hill in Waring, then to Boerne and on to Kerrville.nbspJohn attended Schreiner Institute, enlisting in the service as WW II broke out.nbsp He was a member of the 87th Armored Field Artillery who landed at Normandy on June 7, 1944.nbsp He briefly attended Texas AampM.nbspHe retired from Kerrville USDA Entomology Lab in 1980 after 37 years of service.nbsp He was proud to be part of the Screwworm eradication program, helping in various labs in FL, TX and around the USA.nbspJohn was predeceased in death by his parents, and a son, Dennis Dreiss in 1992.nbspHe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Pray Dreiss of Kerrville a son, Stanley Dreiss of Mountain Home a daughter, Bobbie Jean Morgenroth of Missouri City, TX 5 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren a brother, Francis Dreiss of Kerrville nieces, nephews and many friends.nbspation will be at Kerrville Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 12:30PM1:30 PM.nbspFuneral services will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home, Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 1:30 PM following the visitation.nbsp Interment will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery, Kerrville.nbspIn lieu of floral arrangements, monetary donations in his name may be made to Schreiner University to help those working their way through college or to the charity of onersquos choice.nbspnbsp
