Pipe Creek John Benjamin Davis, Jr., passed away November 24, 2005, at his home in Pipe Creek, TX. He lived 78 full and active years. He was surrounded by his family at his death after having endured a fivemonth struggle with leukemia.John B., as he was known to many, was born in Lometa, TX on July 18, 1927, one of three sons. His brothers are Norman Davis and the late Roger Davis, both of Lampasas. His parents were John B. Davis, Sr. and Maude Herring Davis.Growing up in Lampasas, he married Nella Christine Seale in 1948. He graduated from Texas AM University, and while he was there he played in the Aggie Band. He served in both the Navy and the Army, and he was a retired Lt. Col. in the Army Reserve.He was a school teacher and worked with the Internal Revenue Service before having a 45 year career as a certified public accountant. He lived in Corpus Christi for 40 years, where he was a deacon and choir member at First Baptist Church. John and Nella raised three children, Dan Davis of Waco, Gary Davis of Lampasas, and Nancy Davis Garrett of Pipe Creek. In 1972 after Nellas death, he married Mary Waters Morris, and they had thirtythree happy years together.He served on the Board of Governors dispute resolution board in Corpus Christi. At age 70, John earned an M.B.A. degree from UTSA. He was a past president of the Corpus Christi chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. After moving to San Antonio in 1995, he worked with Durflinger Company as a CPA and at Apex Software as controller, with his soninlaw Randall Garrett. He participated in adventurous travel expeditions with several groups of friends and family from across the state.John was a second father to Marys children, Mary Thomason of Dallas, Jay Morris of Houston, Gene Morris of Denver, and James Morris of Arlington. Known as Papa John, he was a grandfather to Andy, Joel, and Austin Davis Levi Garrett Dylan and Erin Webb Nathan, Jeremiah, Micah, Evan, Charles, and Mary E. Morris.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 26th, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church, 319 Mulberry, San Antonio, TX. Burial will follow at the Lampasas Oak Hill Cemetery at 4:00 PM in Lampasas, TX.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
