John Burton

Once upon a time, a child named Jack was conceived in his parents love, and to Buck and Jackies delight, he entered this world on September 10, 1995. Dad cried tears of joy.

As the wee Jack grew, so did his vibrant life force. Barely beyond his toddler years, he would launch off the sofa with his first guitar, a wooden plank, emulating The Boss. When we would swing him at the park, hed holler, higher, higher, and for the 4th of July and New Years, he would celebrate by running to the end of the driveway and back, sparklers in each hand, yelling, yahoo yahoo Naturally, he liked to dance. Also quite naturally, he did not like to eat vegetables.

In his third year, as an early Christmas present , Jack got the gift of all his baby gril sic sister Laura, a.k.a. Peanut, his dear friend and soul mate in music. Living room dance parties grew to four.

Come school time, Jack thrived as a learner, social creature, and soccer boy. He even demonstrated a nerdy interest in history. For his 11th birthday, he got a real guitar, and about this time, social Jack eclipsed schoolboy Jack. Making laughter, making music, making his family whole with his adorable self mark the final chapters in this tale. Its a story of big love for a happy child.

Tragically, Jacks narrative was abridged on April 6 when Death, dark force that he is, carried our loved one to that other place, a terribly sad ending to an otherwise lovely life story. Dad, along with mom, sister, Yankee relatives, his fairhaired maiden, and friends, cried tears of sorrow. We pray in Gods name that Jacks spirit will live . . . happily ever after.
