Kerrville John Davis JD Buck Buckner, 83, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital.He was born to Jonnie Ray and Gordon Buckner on September 14, 1924 in Austin, TX. Educated in the Austin Public School System, Mr. Buckner received his formal education at the University of Texas in Austin.He served in the US Navy for five years, immediately following high school.He saw action in Salerno, Siciley and Normandy. He moved to Kerrville in1948 where he was employed by the Kerrville Bus Company as ChiefAccountant, a position he held for 44 years.Mr. Buckner was a member of the Heart of the Hills Lions Club, served in the Kerrville Jaycees and was very active in the Methodist Church. He and his wife were youth workers for many years and he served as the Treasurer of the Hunt Methodist Church for 18 years.JD is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Thompson Buckner of Kerrville a sisterinlaw, Julia Thompson Stalder of Kerrville nieces and nephews, Betty Gates of Portland, ME, Bob Gates of Fredericksburg, Rick and Gina Fritshoff of Austin and Sara Patrick of San Antonio.There will be a private graveside service for the family at a later date.The family request that floral arrangements be omitted and that memorial donations in his name be made to the Hunt Methodist Church or the charity of ones choice.The family invites you to leave a message or memory at www.kerrvillefuneralhome.com by selecting Obituaries.
