John Allison


John Blair Allison, 75, passed away at his home on March 19, 2014. John was born on October 1, 1938, in Birmingham, Alabama, to parents Harry H. Allison and Jessie Mae Blair.

John served as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps in his early years, where he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart, a Rifle Expert, and a Pistol Marksman.

In the 1960s John worked for the Offshore Company out of Houston, Texas and Tamano, Japan. He then went to work for Marathon LeTourneau out of Houston, Texas, Glasgow Scotland, Singapore, and Brownsville, Texas. He cofounded AllisonMcDermid, now known as AMFELS out of Brownsville, Texas. John retired in the 1990s with his wife to their ranch in the Hill Country, in Mountain Home, Texas. His hobbies included the unique talent of ink sketching, playing the guitar, building furniture, and raising exotic game on their ranch.

John is survived by his wife Diana Allison, and his 7 children, Dani Allison, of Houston, Texas, Maryjo BentleyHibbert and husband Alister BentleyHibbert, of Houston, Texas, John B. Allison, II Dos and wife Rachel Allison, of Canyon Lake, Texas, Darla McDermid and husband Tony McDermid, of Fredericksburg, Texas, Tammie Buttles and husband James Buttles, of Alvin, Texas, Katie Melchor and husband Patrick Melchor, of Boerne, Texas, and James Thompson, of Mountain Home, Texas. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Kerrville Funeral Home, located at 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, Texas 78028.
Flowers can be sent to the Kerrville Funeral Home prior to the service.
