Cameroon, South Africa Joel Vinson, 51, beloved husband, father, son and brother, unexpectedly went to be with his Lord on July 11, 2009 in West Africa.
Born in Corpus Christi, TX on September 19, 1957, he was the son of Johnny B. and Judith A. Thomas Vinson.
Joel worked in the Oil industry overseas for many years and was a Directional Drilling Coordinator in the oil fields.
He enjoyed composing music and had written many songs. Joel had created his own music recording studio in his home, where he spent many hours recording his music. Joel wrote a song about the Guadalupe River and Kerrville, where he loved to be. The song is called quotGuadalupe, How the River is Calling Mequot. He formed a band in Cameroon called quot13 38 Live in Africa.
On November 6, 1998, in Trinidad, West Indies, he married Rasheeda quotShevonquot Ramoutar. They had 11 wonderful years together and to this union, was born, Melody, the joy of Joels life. He always said he loved her times infinity.
Of her father, Melody says he was a wonderful husband, daddy and was always happy and fun.
Joel could always make you laugh and he will be sadly missed not only by his family, but his friends and those he worked with.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his wife, Rasheeda quotShevonquot Vinson of Kerrville his daughter, Melody Vinson of Kerrville his parents, Johnny and Judith Thomas Vinson of Kerrville his brothers, Jay W. Vinson and his wife Desirae , of Kerrville and Jim Vinson of Corpus Christi many nieces and nephews and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
There will be no visitation.
A celebration of Joels life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 2:00PM.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that monetary donations be made to the Melody Vinson Education Fund, co Wells Fargo Bank, Kerrville, TX or to the Music Department of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, so Joels love of music can live on.
