KERRVILLE Joanne Ingargiola quotInkyquot Dutton Smith, 80, died on April 4, 2012, at her Kerrville, Texas home. Inky was born May 6, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Anthony and Inez Foret Ingargiola.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, Eugene Gene C. Smith, former mayor of Kerrville. Inky and Gene enjoyed their lives together in New Orleans, Louisiana and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, before moving to Kerrville. They travelled extensively and visited all seven continents including 88 countries. Inky was an active member of the Republican Women of Kerr County and the Riverhill Country Club. She was named Kerr County Volunteer of the Year as well as Sevier County Republican Volunteer of the Year while living in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Also surviving her are her two daughters from her first marriage to the late Lt. Harold Keith Dutton, U.S.M.C., Kim Dutton Kulpa husband Barry of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Alison Dutton Gamble husband Mike of New Orleans, Louisiana grandson Scott Keith Gamble greatgrandson, Colton Scott Gamble of Slidell, Louisiana stepchildren, Laura Smith Miller of Abita Springs, Louisiana, Melinda Smith Sidora husband Greg of Lake Conroe, Texas, Ralph Smith of Kerrville, Texas, Logan Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana, Bennett Smith of Grand Isle, Louisiana, Scott Smith wife Carol of Houston, Texas 9 stepgrandchildren, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.

Inky is preceded in death by her parents stepson, Eugene Pancho C. Smith and grandson, Sean Michael Gamble.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials may be forwarded to Peterson Hospice, 1211 Broadway, Kerrville, Texas 78028 or to a local charity of ones choice.

ation will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 5 7 PM at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, Texas 78028. A celebration of Inkys life will be held in the Main Chapel of the Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, beginning at 2 PM with Father Mike Peinemann officiating. She will be laid to rest in New Orleans, Louisiana.
