Jeanette Baker

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Mrs. Jeanette Irene C. Baker died December 24, 2015, in Jacksonville, FL. She was born June 8, 1934 in Salvisa, KY to Howard C. Cunningham and Jeanette P. Cunningham.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe D. Baker; and her sister, Dora Louise Briscoe.

She is survived by her brother, W. Howard Cunningham of Raleigh, NC; her son, Joe D. Baker II, Lt. Col USMC (Ret.) and daughter-in-law, Melissa F. Baker; and her beloved granddaughters, Lindsay Morgan Baker and Callie Nicole Baker, all of Fleming Island, FL.

She graduated from Berea High School, Berea, KY, in 1952 and attended Berea College.

After her marriage, she worked for Lincoln Life Insurance Co. in Lexington, KY. The family moved to Austin, TX in 1968 and she worked as the Office Manager for Barnett Investments for many years. Irene loved to garden. She also collected antiques and specialized in antique clocks of German origin.

Graveside Services will be held at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX 78731 on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 11 AM.
