Kerrville Major Jay Seth Taylor, USAF Retired, 86, of Kerrville, passed from this life at a local hospital on Saturday, August 1, 2009.
Born in Marion, NC on July 6, 1923, he was the son of Charlie M. and Para Pace Taylor.
Major Taylor served in the USAF from July 7, 1944 until he retired on July 6, 1983. He was an educator in the USAF and also was an educator in the Harlandale ISD.
He was a member of the Methodist Mens Group, the Order of the Arrow, EMMAUS, taught at New Beginnings Sunday School and was a proud member of the DKC.
His logical, brilliant mind and his joy in life were intact to the end.
Major Taylor was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings, Cora Morgan, Emma Thompson, Morris Taylor, Warren Taylor and Ralph Taylor.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Louise Roberts Taylor siblings, Jasper Taylor, Dorris Rodenhizer and Jessie Holleman his children, Jay S. Taylor, Jr., Alexander Taylor, Patience Taylor Cain, Andrew Taylor, Suzanne Taylor Sheffield, Leanne Taylor Wise, Brenda Taylor Butz, Steven Surber, Richard Surber and Cindi Smith 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral Services are to be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville. Committal services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio at 2:30PM.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that monetary donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, Childrens ARK, 321 Thompson Dr, Kerrville, TX 78028.
